We're proud to share the Northridge Tennis nominations for this year's end-of-year school awards. The athletes and teams highlighted below reflect what Northridge Tennis is building in Layton, Utah: a program rooted in hard work, character, and long-term growth.
Male Senior Athlete of the Year: Nathan Dickson
Nathan Dickson capped his senior year by winning the Region title at #2 Varsity Singles, earning Northridge its first Varsity singles Region championship in ten years. He also led the boys team in win percentage, a fitting reflection of his consistency and competitive edge.
Across three seasons in the program, Nathan has been a steady anchor. His work ethic, maturity, and leadership set the tone in practice every day, and his impact on Northridge Tennis will be felt for years to come.
Female Senior Athlete of the Year: Cassandra Baird
Cassandra Baird represented Northridge Tennis with class and competitiveness for four full seasons. She closed her senior year with the highest win percentage on the girls team and a third-place finish at the Region tournament, competing at #2 Varsity Singles.
What made Cassandra exceptional was the way she carried herself. She showed up ready to work, handled adversity with poise, and modeled the kind of team-first character that strengthens a program from the inside out.
Male Scholar Athlete of the Year: Jake Williams
In his first year of high school tennis, Jake Williams earned a Varsity roster spot at #1 Doubles alongside Korver Hansen — an impressive feat for any newcomer to the sport. The pair became a key piece of Northridge's success and helped the program achieve its best season in a decade.
Jake's combination of athleticism, work ethic, and academic discipline reflects exactly what the Scholar Athlete award is built to recognize.
Female Scholar Athlete of the Year: Sarah Larsen
Sarah Larsen helped shape the culture of Northridge Tennis. Her example — respect, discipline, and a genuine love for the sport — set a high standard for the team throughout the season.
On the court, Sarah teamed with Maya Huntinghouse at #1 Varsity Doubles. Together they won critical matches and qualified for the State tournament, demonstrating consistency and competitiveness at a high level. Her balance of athletic commitment and academic excellence makes her a deserving Scholar Athlete nominee.
Male Travis Poll Strength of Character Award: Patrick Luoma
Patrick Luoma has held the #1 Varsity Singles position for two seasons, facing every program's toughest competitor. He met that challenge with composure, determination, and consistent effort.
What separates Patrick is the work no one sees. Early arrivals, late nights, and countless offseason hours added up to the kind of player and leader teammates respect. He handled wins and losses with equal maturity, carrying himself with grace in the most demanding role on the team. Patrick leaves Northridge Tennis as one of the program's most accomplished and admired athletes.
Female Travis Poll Strength of Character Award: Maya Huntinghouse
In her first year of tennis, Maya Huntinghouse stepped into the #1 Varsity Doubles position with Sarah Larsen and contributed at a high level right away. Her athletic instincts and willingness to learn made her an asset on the court from day one.
Maya's biggest impact, though, was on team culture. She looked out for struggling teammates, built friendships easily, and brought humility and kindness to every practice. Northridge Tennis was a stronger program — competitively and culturally — because Maya was part of it.
Froshmore Male Athlete of the Year: Korbin Rounds
Korbin Rounds was a cornerstone of the JV lineup at #2 JV Singles, capping his season by winning the Region tournament title at his position. His growth was steady, and his confidence in matches grew alongside it.
Beyond results, Korbin's daily approach — early to practice, ready to work, consistently positive — made him one of the most respected athletes in the program.
Froshmore Female Athlete of the Year: Autumn Jordan
As a freshman, Autumn Jordan stepped into the #1 JV Singles role and delivered. She won the majority of her matches and finished third at Region, proving she could compete under pressure against strong opponents.
Off the court, Autumn helped organize team events, built friendships across the roster, and brought genuine energy to the program. Her contributions reached well past her match results.
Male Breakthrough Athlete of the Year: Eli Charles
Eli Charles made the jump from soccer to tennis this year and quickly became one of the most versatile athletes on the roster. He stepped into Varsity matches as a reliable substitute and went undefeated in Region play at #3 JV Singles.
His athleticism, adaptability, and competitive mindset made him valuable in any role, and the energy he brought to practice every day made the team better.
Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year: Bella Bendixsen
In her first year with the program, Bella Bendixsen contributed at both #3 Varsity Singles and #2 Varsity Doubles. Stepping into multiple Varsity roles as a newcomer takes real talent and competitive maturity, and Bella brought both.
Her natural feel for the game was clear from the start, and her versatility played a meaningful part in the team's success this season.
